The Dofollow Blog Commenting Primer
Are you new to SEO? Do you need backlinks? One way you can get them is to comment on blogs that link out
. These days many blogs link out, but not all link out without applying the nofollow attribute. Once the nofollow attribute is applied to your link, it no longer passes on the trust and reputation necessary for your website. Once the nofollow attribute is applied, the link is only good for indexing your website or page and click thru traffic that is browsing the blog.
The trick to benefiting from blog commenting as an SEO strategy is to find blogs that have not applied the nofollow attribute and that have moderators checking the comments manually. Comments that are auto-approved by the blog will be spammed relentlessly by spammers and any value that your link may contain will quickly and ruthlessly be diluted to a valueless state. So how can one find blogs that do not have the nofollow attribute applied? Simple. Use Google and search for the following:
"Add comment" Your Keywords
"Post comment" Your Keywords
Write comment Your Keywords
Your Keywords leave a comment / leave comment
Your Keywords Notify me of follow-up comments?"+"Submit the word you see below:"
Your Keywords Remember my personal information" + "Notify me of follow-up comments?"
Your Keywords "Notify me of follow-up comments"
Your Keywords This site uses KeywordLuv"
Your Keywords "Enable CommentLuv"
Your Keywords "You can use these tags"
Your Keywords Powered by BlogEngine.NET"
Your Keywords Allowed HTML tags:"
Your Keywords top commenter"
In each of the above, obviously you would replace "Your Keywords with your actual keywords of interest.
So how can you get your comments approved? Well, there is really only one way and that is to add value to the post and not look like a spammer. This can be done easily if you follow a few simple rules.
Rule Number One - Use Your Real Name. Nothing bespeaks spam like using a keyword as your name in a lame attempt to get a contextual link. This is something that can only be done if the commenter has a good reputation as a contributor to the blog. When commenting as an SEO strategy, use your real name, at least initially.
Rule Number Two - Read The Post. When commenting on a post, read it and make a comment about the actual post. One liners and short post that say things like "nice post" or "great blog" or something pathetic like that. Rest assured that these will be deleted. When posting, use the post tags as keywords in your comment so that the poster knows or at least thinks you read it. Add value to the post and page.
Rule Number Three - Use Good Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling. Comments that do not use good grammar, spelling and punctuation look spammy and sloppy. Trashy grammar, spelling and punctuation do not add value to the page. Whenever you comment on a blog, remember that you are acting as a representative for your company so you should present yourself accordingly through your comment.
