The Dvr Is Invaluable

I can remember the day when I first discovered it

. The DVR would changed the way we watched TV, they said. I had a hard time buying into the hype, but I still loved the concept. After reading more reviews, it seemed like this device really did deliver on its promises, storing television shows digitally for later viewing.

The concept of recording an entire series without having to manually set it up each time was even more amazing to me. I could be out at night without having to worry about forgetting to record my favorite shows. I could also watch two things at once if there was a conflicting schedule.

If I was out at night for dinner, I could come home and watch my favorite shows a few hours after they were originally broadcast. I wouldn't need to worry about a tape running out of room, or having to buy new ones.

Everything sounded great to me and I ended up buying the Replay TV. The only drawback about it was that you'd have to download the TV guide via dial-up Internet to keep up with the listings.

Other than this, it essentially worked just as it does now, only it'd hold a few hours at a time.

The concept of DVR has evolved since then, and it even comes standard with many cable boxes out there. The recording capacity is much stronger than it used to be and the quality continues to improve.

People might take it for granted now that we've had it for a few years, but thinking back to the way things were before this it's pretty safe to say that the concept and presence of the DVR has had a profound impact on the way we watch TV.

I fully appreciate the fact that I have one in my house. My cable box broke a few months ago, and living without one made me realize just how useful they are.
