The Fight Against Ageing And Attempts To Look Younger The Never Ending Story

Ageing is the kind of stalker that is going to get you sooner or later

. The fight against ageing and attempts to look younger are a never ending quest for most women. Yes, 'most' because not all women want to look younger than they actually are. For some, it's ageing gracefully that matters more than whether they look younger or not.

These are the soul's changes. I don't believe in ageing. I believe in forever altering one's aspect to the sun. Hence my optimism.

Eponymous lines by Virginia Woolf - isn't that what acceptance of ageing all about. Yes, there is sarcasm in these lines, but they give you a pause for thought. You need to be optimistic about ageing. After all, it's the the body's natural process at work. Try as you might, you can't control it; you can only slow down ageing by using a plethora of creams, gels and topical solutions. But sooner rather later you will need to accept the fact that your body is altering and there is very little you can do about it.

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Mark Twain was known for his sparkling wit and practicality. Nothing illustrates it better than this quote. If you don't keep worrying about ageing, it will stop bothering you. What's more, studies indicate that if you keep worrying, you will develop those worry lines and wrinkles much faster. Use those anti-wrinkles cream and and anti ageing creams by all means, but don't become a worrier because of it. Use your mind to win over the process of ageing. Don't mind the natural changes happening in the mind. Let them not matter so much. If you do that, you will be able to manage the signs of ageing better.

Two women Two different view points

After talking to my best friend, Ruth and my sister, Maria, I have seen two contrasting opinions on ageing.

Ruth takes each day as it comes. She loves how she looks and isn't worried about those fine lines and wrinkles that are slowly developing on her face. She ensures that she takes care of her skin and ensures that its healthy. Her skin has a wonderful glow that makes it look younger. Her friend Maria has a different view point about ageing and looking younger. She desperately wants to look younger and has a goal in mind. She wants to look half her age. Maria must have used most anti wrinkle and ageing products available on the market. But the wrinkles don't seem to disappear. The problem is her attitude towards fighting ageing and looking younger. For her, it's a battle that she must win at any cost. For Ruth, ageing is a process that she has accepted and learnt to live with.

There is no use losing sleep and your happiness because of ageing. The 'fountain of life' that promises eternal youth still remains to be discovered. There are products that provide you with an instant face lift by improving the circulation of you skin and also improving it elasticity. But it's important not to see these as a miraculous cure for ageing. They just help you slow down the process. Ageing is a fact of life that must be accepted to lead a more satisfying life.
