The First Stage Of Internet Marketing - Take Off!
Are you ready for take-off? If so, then everything should be in place following your pre-launch preparations. Hopefully you've taken your time and your site is complete, you've registered your domain name, developed a product as a 'free gift', signed up with an autoresponder service, and considered what back end product you're going to promote. If you've checked your lists and everything is in place then fasten your seat belt, press the big red button, count down the launch sequence, and away you go!The first stage of internet marketing is really to begin to get yourself noticed out there in the market place. At first nobody will know you, and that's quite a daunting thought. You are just a very small fish in an enormous ocean, and somehow you've got to rise to the surface.Now is the time to start producing quality content. Your aim should be to produce at least three blogs per week. Having completed a blog post check it for relevance and for keywords. Are you on subject, or have you wandered off into some personal thoughts? Does the title contain relevant keywords? Does the keyword appear within the first paragraph and then throughout the rest of the post (but avoid keyword stuffing)?You also want to make sure that you get a handful of back links simply so that your blog gets indexed by the search engines. You can do this by waiting until you have some good quality content on your blog, then when you are ready, go and find some high traffic forums, participate in the comments and leave a link to your blog in your sig file (sig files are signatures at the end of e-mail messages containing your name and contact details, including your URL).The mantra throughout the first stage is content, content, content. Get into the habit of submitting articles at least once a week. You can always re-work some of your blog post material into an article, it doesn't always need to be fresh writing. Submit your articles to as many article directories as you can. A good idea here is to link up with an article submission site and have your articles distributed for you. There will be a cost attached to this, but the benefits are enormous.Be brave and start posting videos up on YouTube. You could be the 'star' of the show and talk through a couple of issues or questions on each video or, if you prefer, produce a series of Powerpoint slides and then process these into a presentation with narration using software such as Camtasia. There are also video distribution sites, and you could use these to reach a wider audience.The most important point with the first stage is not to get disheartened. Potential customers will not race to your site (unless you've got something really special!), and you may go weeks, or even months, before anybody even notices you. Just persevere, and eventually the traffic will start to come.The reason why most people fail at this stage is that they focus solely on when is the money going to start coming in. Better to focus upon producing quality content and good links, and this takes time. Reading the journeys of successful internet marketers will reveal that they went through six months or more before they started getting a list and subsequent sales.So keep writing that content and, most importantly, start to enjoy it! If you can't enjoy the production of content then perhaps you need to re-consider the suitability of internet marketing as a business - content is king!
