I just spent an amazing weekend in London being surrounded by fellow coaches & was astounded by the lack of awareness of the state of coaching today.
You must understand these trends to get coaching clients!
1) Using Social Media in Coaching
It has never been easier to reach such a wide audience of people interested in what you do thanks to Social Media. I am in daily contact with some massive names in the coaching world simply by adding them on Facebook and making interesting comments.
Social media has allowed me to grow an international business where using applications such as Twitter, I have picked up clients from America, South African and Australia. By using communication tools such as Skype I have been able to Coaching people all around the world.
You cannot afford to ignore social media. It is the quickest and easiest way to reach a large audience fast
2) Your Coaching Niche: Adapt or Die
You cannot market yourself as a Life Coach anymore, particularly in the UK. Coaching Academies are churning out new coaches in their hundreds where the total number in the world is doubling every two to three years.
In the past you could be the jack of all trades coach but that is no longer possible. People will only pay the big money to the self-evident experts. The coaches that have walked their talk. In the words of Gandhi, "you must be the change you want to see in the world"
So if you are overweight, you cannot be a Weight Loss Coach. You cannot coach people on Relationships if you are constantly bouncing from one dysfunctional affair to another. Hold yourself to the standard you expect people to pay you to be.

3) Building An Effective Relationship With Your Coaching List
People do not care about how many letters you have after your name or how many bits of paper you have telling them how qualified you are. They don't even care what coaching is. The chances are they don't even know what it is!
What people do want to know is why should they listen to you? How do they know you can fix the pain they are in? The coaching is almost irreverent; it's the result they will pay you money for.
So when people show up, let them know they are in the right place. Give them something of value that will help them get rid of their current headache. Not another "Ho Hum" newsletter or free consultation. Give them something that works fast and will blow their mind!
People will not buy high price packages off you on a first encounter. You have to build the trust and earn the right to sell to them. Make a first impression that really counts!
4) Product Launches For Coaching Products
The final trend is the one that you MUST without doubt use in your business. You must productise you coaching. Make CD's and Books to see to establish your credibility. Let people get to know you on a low cost product that doesn't take your time away from you.
Your time is the most valuable asset as a coach. So don't give it away cheaply. Put together a process that makes the best use of your time.
Write that free report, record a CD, write a book and self-publish it. This is so simple to do. If you focus and put the effort in you can have all three done by the end of today. It is that simple.
You can set up Group Coaching sessions and tele-seminars. Do public speaking. All these activities where you can speak to a crowd of people instead of one on one.
Build a crowd of interested followers then ask them what they want. Put together a programme according to the feedback then launch it to them.
This is the formula that is making the successful coaches a lot of money!
