The Fundamentals To Playing Chess

Chess is an ancient and mythical game that has brought kingdoms to their knees

. It is one of both strategy and cunning as you determine your next moves and your opponents. But, there are some basic fundamentals to the game that should be followed. The first question is how do you win at chess? The object of the game is to get your opponents king in check mate. The king is never actually captured it means that it has no other free spaces to move on the chess board. The chess board is made up of different squares usually in a black and white checkered format. The beginning eight by eight squares are where you place your black and white pieces on each end of the board. The first row is where all the pawns go across, Followed by the additional pieces in the second row.

The piece of a chess board can only move in certain directions with each one working together to come up with a strategy to win. The pawns in front can only move forward, when they capture an opponents piece it must be in a diagonal position. Rooks can move horizontal vertical, but only in a straight line. Knights can only move in an L- shape position two blocks up one over or a combination two to the side and one block up or down. Bishops can move in a diagonal position since there are two one is place on a black square and the other white square. The queen is the most powerful piece on the chess board able to move in any direction on any color squares. The queen can move diagonal, horizontal, vertical, back and forth and diagonal positions. The king can move in any direction but is limited to only one space per move. These are the basic move patterns you use for each piece so before planning chess stud the move patterns of the pieces.

If this is the first time you are playing chess then it is a god idea to remember you want to capture and control the four squares in the center of the board first. If you are able to capture and control this location your options for an effective wining strategy can be very powerful. For example if you have a bishop piece and the knight both on light colored portion of the board. The bishop can then take the knight as long as no other pieces are defending the knight. It takes practice and time but eventually you can become a grand master two. There are a lot more advanced strategys to planning chess but if you first get the fundamentals down you will be well on your way to becoming one.
