, the Garmin Nuvi 295W may be just what you are looking for. It has a built-in digital camera and comes equipped for Wi-Fi. Actually, it is quite similar to the Garmin Nuvifone, just without the phone capability. This device was released in May 2010. Following is a quick Garmin Nuvi 295W review.

The navigator resembles a smartphone in design. It is actually quite similar in form to the Garmin Nuvifone G60 as well. It is the same size and differs in looks mainly because it is chrome rather than black. The touch screen is also identical.

As mentioned, it is WiFi equipped. Therefore, it can be used to check your emails and surf the Internet. You can also view such attachments as Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Powerpoint presentations, JPGs and PDFs. The camera is 3 MP and has an auto-focus. It can be used to take photos and send them to whomever you like or upload them to the Internet.

As with a number of other devices, like the iPhone, the 295W can be used in either landscape or portrait view which can be quite helpful when using it for navigation. Speaking of which, there are maps for Canada and the United States. Also included are cityXplorer maps that give more detail for metropolitan areas.

Close to six million POIs, or points of interest, are included like gas stations, ATMs, hotels, stores, restaurants and more. It will speak the street names as it gives you directions turn by turn. There is no current traffic information or Bluetooth connectivity offered.

You can use your address book, email, as well as Internet search results, to receive navigation at a single touch. Geotagged images can also be navigated to as well. These can be photos taken and tagged with the camera. There is a Locate feature that will automatically save the location of your car when you take the navigator from its dock. You will never need to wonder where you parked again.

Additional features include a stopwatch, calculator, calendar, clock with world time zones, weather forecasts and currency converter. There is an MP3 plan as well as a picture viewer. Plus, also included is a connector for a car charger, a USB port to charge and sync and a headphone jack.

Will the Garmin Nuvi 295W be right for you? This may partially depend on your need for a mobile navigation device. If you only drive one car and it has GPS and you have a smartphone, it may be unnecessary. That being said, the added features are handy to have and, if you do require a GPS unit you can take with you, it may just be the answer.
