The Great Rivers Of Europe
If you would like to explore the great rivers of Europe then you may as well make
sure you enjoy the countries they snake through as much as you can, if that is possible.
The first great river which is worth exploring in my opinion is the Dnieper. This river begins its journey in the Southwest of the Russian Federation and winds its way through fascinating lands and cultures. It flows south through Belarus and then southeast into the Ukraine. It eventually pours out into the black sea - an area of Europe which has a lot to offer in summer, to any traveller who wants to end their trip with a few days rest on a sandy coast.
The Don is another large river which can be traced from south-western Russia, all the way to Moscow. It flows towards the Volga which is south east of the city and then suddenly turns abruptly west, completing its journey in the sea of Azo. The total length of the river is 1,969 kilometres, which is 306 kilometres shorter than the Dnieper.
Elbe is another beautiful river worth exploring. It rises in the Czech republic and then travels through Germany and eventually finds its way into the North Sea, near Cuxhaven.
The Oder is another river which can be traced to the Czech Republic. It begins in a rugged mountainous region of the country and then flows west and north through south-central Poland, before eventually heading towards the Baltic Sea where it empties out. At 912 kilometres it is by no means one of the longest great rivers in Europe, but like the other rivers mentioned in this article, you will pass incredible landscape if you travel down it.
Out of all the rivers I have recommended so far, the Loire is the only one whose origins and where it ends is one and the same country. The Loire is recognised as Frances longest river and begins in the foothills of the Massif Central where it then flows north and west across Frances heartland. It finally ends in the Bay of Biscay.
May favourite would have to be the River Danube; only because it flows through the stunning Austrian countryside. A worthwhile place to stay is
Hotel Vienna Danube. If you would like to venture further afield from the region away from Vienna then
Innsbruck Hotel is highly recommendable for the surrounding scenery. This hotel always gets great reviews and maintains the highest of standards for its customers.
