The Hands of Prayer and the Gulf Oil Spill
The massive and continued spill of toxic oil into the gulf region is threatening to leave damaging affects not only now but into the far future.
While the occurrence of this is through the missteps of men, the full remedy as to clean up and reversing the ill effects is not fully there through modern available means
It is a situation that calls for prayer and the remedies of prayer which can be supernatural and miraculous not only in seemingly smaller ways but in any size or proportion.
The gulf oil spill may or may not be attributed to fault, but either way the hands of prayer can be sought for a full resolution here and now even as the power of the Lord is present here and now..
From Job Chapter 22 verse 30 from the speech of Elipaz it says using the New King James version of the Bible, "He will even deliver one who is not innocent, Yes; he will be delivered by the purity of your hands."
Ironically, later in the story of Job, the friends of Job were considered not innocent and needed to be restored by the prayers of Job and when Job prayed for THEM, he was also restored with a double portion. This was however of course in the context of an ongoingdialogue with the Lord.
The Lord was listening in to the words of Job and those of his friends and gave his response which referred in many verses to the great realms of nature and how he presided over these realms.
But within the story of Job, we have this great reference to the hands of prayer and the Lord's call to the use of these hands of prayer in the case of Job as he requested that he pray specifically for his friends.
We look at the great baseball shortstop like Derek Jeter who has those special hands to play the position.
But there are greater special hands and these are the special hands of prayer that can bring upon miracles, wonders and the supernatural.
A description of this is given in the Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 5 verse 12 where it says: 12 And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's Porch.
Had these apostles been around today, through their hands the wonder of seeing all the oil dissipate and disappear could be happening right now even as there were wonders to behold right in the presence of those who were around the apostles then. .
But the gift is still there and available in this era and through the hands of prayer, those who are in right relationship with the Lord can bring about wonders and it doesn't specify size limits in these verses as to wonders and miracles.
Whether it is 200 million or even billions of gallons of oil, the miracle can equal the need for the miracle.
Another example that we have the widespread effects of the hands of prayer is the case of Elijah.
From the epistle of James, Chapter 5 verses 16 through 18 it says
16 Confessyour trespassesto one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
What these verses on the effect of Elijah's prayers show is that the results of even one person's prayers can go to any measure and can reach into any attainment that is needed in supernatural ways as Elijah had no means of controlling the weather on his own but it was only through the hands of prayer that he was able to bring about the weather he asked for throughout the earth.
Through the hands of prayer now, it is possible to reach through these same prayer channels and clear the waterways for a fresh start in the renewed graces of the good Lord.
