The Home Water Filters

The Home Water Filters

The Home Water Filters

Most people today use some sort of home water filters or at least purchase bottled water to drink. The real question seems to be is bottled or filtered water necessary?

Most of us would say it is even if only for the taste. Just a few years ago, about 30 actually but who is counting, there was no such thing as bottled water. If anyone had thought to poll people on whether or not they would buy such a thing they would have been laughed at. Why would anyone want to spend money for something they can get for free. Now however it is a multibillion dollar industry.

When they first came out they used scare tactics to sell it. We were told our tap water could kill us. They however seems to all be brought to us from the ice high atop a mountain or glacier or from the heart of a waterfall, all visions of safe, pure and healthy water. The problem is the ads are mostly lies.

It is convenient, that much is true. It is not however any safer then home water filters. Actually 40% of bottled water is regular tap water. The rest of it is tap water passed through a filter system of some sort. It seems to me it would be just as safe and a lot less expensive to use a home water filter system.

Buying them for yourself and your family can be very expensive. Americans purchased almost 30 billion bottles of water last year. That is much more expensive then a home water filter system, about 2000 times more expensive. The use of them is also one of the biggest ecological problems the world has ever faced.

That 30 billion bottles of water American buy every year are now clogging our landfills and polluting our world. Some people seem to think drinking bottled water is ok as long as they recycle the bottles. This is not the case. The chemicals used to make the soft flexible bottle the water comes in can leach into the contents if it is reused. So the bottles must be disposed of. Now out of every 2.5 million bottles that are sent to be recycled every hour of every day only about 1% do get recycled and those just get made into another product that will be thrown out. If you want to really "go green" and save money as well as your health read on.

The best ways to combat the problems created by the bottled water industry are very simple and very easy.

1) Stop buying bottled water!

2) Buy a home water filter system.

A home water filter system can be as simple as one of those water pitchers with the filter built in or as elaborate as a whole house unit. It really does not matter what kind you use.

3) Use your own bottle

If you like to drink bottled water like many of us do it is easier and more cost effective to purchase a reusable bottle to carry water in. Then you can refill it from the home water filter in your house or any place else really. Even most of the local convenience stores use a water filtration system.
