The Htc Desire Black Smartphone

HTC have released there hugely impressive Android handset

, the Desire, in a black finish for the summer of 2010. This high specification smartphone. The phone improves upon the excellent HTC Legend and looks destined to be a real winner for the manufacturers.

In terms of looks, the HTC Desire Black immediately wins many fans. The black finish looks sleek and the phones 119 x 60 x 11.9mm measurements are streamline enough for a phone of its type, even if not especially compact. What perhaps makes these stats even more impressive is the size and quality of the screen that HTC have managed to fit into the unit. The 480 x 800 WVGA is one of the best screens available. Using AMOLED technology rather than TFT results in the phone producing stunning detail and great clarity. The touchscreen is capacitive, meaning it is very responsive, and it supports multi touch meaning zoom functions are performed with the pinch and zoom method, very similar to the iphone. The chassis of the phone itself is neat, the screen almost touchs the edges of the handset so no space is wasted. Beneath the screen HTC have chosen to use a new optical trackpad rather than a roller ball found on some of its earlier models. This new system is much more responsive and registers movement as the finger is passed over the top of the device. Asides from this there are just six buttons in total on the handset, four standard butons on the front as well as a side mounted volume key and the power button on top of the chassis. The aluminium frame that surrounds the screen and the neatly curved angles make the phone look both trendy and functional.

With a screen the quality of this, the handset requires some impressive multimedia facilities to show it off. The in built camera captures a high quality 5 million pixel image. Widescreen photos are supported, meaning they look great on the huge screen. With regards to actually taking a photo functions such as face detection, autofocus and a flash mean result are great regardless of conditions. Geotagging also means that your snaps are all tagged by the location where you took them thanks to in built global positioning. The camera is also capable of capturing video footage. Although this isn't in high definition like a couple of its competitors, the results are still good thanks to the ability to shoot footage up to WVGA quality which matches the resolution of the screen. The half GB of inbuilt memory however will not allow a great volume of videos to be stored, hence the wise decision to incorporate microSD technology which allows for up to 32GB of further memory.

The HTC Desire Black looks to be the most impressive Android handset to date thanks to a great screen, excellent UI and a whole host of other useful features.
