The Htc Hd Mini Incorporates Impressive Technology
Recently released in April 2010, the HTC HD Mini draws the manufacturers vast knowledge
of smart phone technology and crams an impressive range of technology into a compact touch screen handset.
In order to connect to the internet and cellular networks, the HTC HD Mini relies on several connectivity options. Where 3G coverage is available, HSDPA is available at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps. A faster internet connection can be attained however. In areas where a local wireless internet router is present and a signal available, the HD Mini utilises Wi-Fi connectivity for a faster web browsing experience. In order to connect to cellular networks, both GPRS and EDGE (class 10) provide the primary means of connectivity.
A 5 mega pixel camera is built into the handset offering a means by which users can take high quality images. The inclusion of the autofocus feature means that the task of taking photos is greatly simplified. As an alternative method of capture, the camera can also shoot video.
The 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touch screen provides an interactive user interface, as well as high quality content display. This is thanks to the ability to display 65,000 colours within 320x480 pixels. The screen also features an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate of the on screen content.
As the name suggests, the HTC HD Mini is a compact handset. Measuring 103x57.7x11.7mm, and weighing just 110 grams. Its light weight and compact dimensions make it a comfortable handset to hold, so is a pleasure to use on the go.
The internal phonebook in the HTC HD Mini can store a practically unlimited number of entries and includes the useful photocall feature. This works by assigning a photo to a contact, and then every time this person is in contact the picture is displayed on the screen. Internal memory is 384 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. In order to gain further storage, for example for music tracks, a micro SD slot is provided, and this can accommodate a memory card of up to 16 GB.
Users have a couple of options for customising their ringtones. MP3 and WAV music files can be assigned as ringtones, so users can hear their favourite song whenever the phone rings. As expected, ringing works in conjunction with vibration to alert to incoming messages and voice calls.
The operating system of choice for the HTC HD Mini is Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Professional. A range of additional features adds appeal to the handset, including a versatile music and video player as well as social networking features offering direct access to sites such as FaceBook and Twitter.
The HTC HD Mini really is a well rounded package. As well as its comprehensive list of features, its compact size and sophisticated styling are sure to bring the manufacturer many new fans.
