The Html5 Mobile Revolution

HTML5 is literally going to revolutionize the way we develop mobile applications

. There are so many amazing benefits to the development of apps due to HTML5 that developers will truly rejoice. While developing apps will continue to change as technology grows, HTML5 is definitely the next step towards more efficient development. Here we will discuss the major benefits of the new HTML5 for mobile.

Development cost will be reduced and speed will be increased. Developing an app with HTML5 across devices will require fewer resources than developing native applications for each mobile operating system. The skills required for web development are much more common compared to native languages and development frameworks. Costs with HTML5 overall will therefore be lower.

HTML5 is absolutely cross-platform compatible. Any smartphone or tablet device that runs on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, or Blackberry will be able to implement HTML5 apps.

Better direct HTML support will be provided for enabling more complex functionality for apps, including drawing, animation, video and audio. DOM and HTML support will be provided by HTML5 without the third party programs and extra unneeded plugins.

Offline Application Cache will be available for users. With the use of HTML5, users will be able to access their HTTP cache even when they are disconnected from their network. While all browsers have a cache, they are generally not very reliable for delivering apps and whole pages derived from the web. Caches are sometimes not completely saved and so it will be impossible to bring up the whole page when you need it. HTML5 allows a developer to specify which files he would like cached. Therefore, when the pages are reloaded while offline, they will load correctly.

HTML5 allows more coverage for location maps. Geolocation apps will make it possible to directly connect to any HTML5-compatible browser-based app. The Google Latitude for the iPhone is an excellent example of this type of HTML5 application. It is unique because rather than being a platform-dependent app, it is a pure web application.

The world's leading software companies which have previously promoted closed-loop, proprietary tools for mobile development (e.g. Adobe, Adobe Flex and Microsoft Silverlight) have since aligned with the HTML5 mobile development approach.

The main thing that developers need to keep in mind is that HTML5 will bring order to the many features and behaviors that we have already been using. Poorly constructed standards for tools have made it very difficult to find programs, operating systems and apps that will all work together. Add the wide variety of mobile devices and you can begin to understand why HTML5 is so seriously needed. Developers will finally be able to create apps that will run seamlessly, across multiple platforms and enjoy the new features that will be made available only through HTML5.
