Most web architects work closely with the project managers, usually product, network, and operations manager. A primary requirement of being a web architect is the complete understanding of cause-and-effect situation, which is perfectly applicable in online marketing.

As an obvious prerequisite, a web architect must stay on top of the advancements in web technology. This means that a web architect must keep up with software developments and is flexible to new development tools and methods.

But it is not enough to just understand how to develop webs systems and programming solutions. A web architect must know how databases work, preferably with several years of experience and workmanship in at least one major database company. But, the main idea of being a good web architect is to have the ability to adapt and incorporate new technology quickly at any field of the Web.

Capable web architects are so rare nowadays, so the basic salary is relatively high. The salary of an average web architect is a little more than US$90,000 in international standards. The lowest is about US$70,000. And the highest tips the scale at about US$100,000 per project, plus incentives and commissions.
