The Key To A Masterful Resume

Use titles and descriptors that are specific to the job you are applying for

. It is easy to send a generic resume to every job you apply for, but what really makes for a good and professional statement is to specify what job you want, particularly the position, and then list your experiences and skills in an order that seems catered to fulfilling the needs of the job you are seeking. Using specific headings for your various skills and experiences also helps make a powerful statement about your qualifications about the job. One way to set your resume apart from all the others is to focus on the design and style of your resume. Gone are the days when people should fill in general templates.

Instead, design a resume that has specific and unique features. Today's world is predominantly visual and so having a resume that is attention-grabbing is imperative. You could put in a simple navy blue or red line that runs across the page combined with a tiny logo you design for yourself. Choose interesting fonts, not crazy or wild, but something other than Times New Roman or Arial to make your typeface seem interesting and different. Headings can be bigger in size and can be set off with a nice color. The best way is to make your design both pleasant to the eye but also functional. Use the colors of your headings to separate the various sections.

Once you stun employers with your wonderfully designed resume, astound them with your rich content and skills. That might take a bit of spinning on your part to really embellish your information. For example, use strong action verbs when describing your tasks and experiences and be specific. Do not be afraid to use strong words like Managed, Directed, Oversaw, etc. Using interesting verbs and descriptors will give employers a personal sense of who you are and they will get a better picture of you. That way a general description is transformed into something unique and employers will have the sense that you have done something in a way no one else can.

Being able to identify the various needs of the job and cater your resume to list skills that demonstrate your ability to fulfill them. Another place where you can really sell yourself is in the skills section, which serves as a sort of catch all place where you can list all your abilities. Make sure that you are specific with your skills and give examples of times when you utilized these skills in the work place or in your life. This will convince employers that you are exactly what they need.

Make sure that you prioritize your resume and its content so that the things that are most relevant to the job are at the top and the least on the bottom. This way employers will be pleased and stunned from the very start.

Finally, proofread, proofread, proofread. Be sure your resume is entirely free from all errors, spelling mistakes, and punctuation. Any small error can turn an employer off and is the mark of an unprofessional person.
