Himachal Pradesh is one of the northern most states of India

. The areal extension of the state is 55,670 square km. It shares its border with j & k in the north, Punjab in west and south west, Uttar Pradesh in the south and Uttrakhand in the south east. It shares an international border with Tibet autonomous region in the east. The state is known for its abundant natural beauty and the extensive Himalayan ranges that cuts through the entire state. Himachal Pradesh was declared as a union territory in 1950 but after the state of Himachal Pradesh act of 1971, himachal emerged as the 18th state of Indian sub continent.

Himachal Pradesh, the name was propounded by one of the great Sanskrit scholar acharya Diwakar Datt Sharma, which means abode of snow. Presently the state ranks third as the fastest growing economy and is ranked fourth in achieving the highest per capita income in India. The state is also an abundant producer of hydro electricity, which its numerous perennial advocates. The state is also very popular for its tourism industry and earns a bulk of income from this sector. Therefore the states economy is largely based on three sources of: hydel power, tourism and agriculture.

The hydroelectric was the first source which had a great role to the humanitarian life in himachal pradesh. All the electricity needs in India are mostly came from himachal pradesh. The second sources which maintain the life quality in himachal pradesh is tourism resources. As the great natural beauty area in India, himachal pradesh has a lot of tourism place which are well known in India. Some of the tourism spot are well maintained by the local government so that give a huge income to the people around the tourism spot area such as Dalhousie, simla and bilaspur.with so many beautiful tourism place in India, himachal pradesh was well known as "the land of the god".
