The Lg Optimus Pad Unveiled

After Apple launched its iPad a couple of months back

, it wasnt long before other manufacturers followed suit. Breathing down the neck of the highly successful Apple iPad are a variety of tablet devices all hoping to take their own share in the market. LG, being one of the worlds most renowned technological manufacturers never had any intentions to let themselves fall behind. They have recently announced the launch of their own tablet device which they have dubbed as the LG Optimus Pad.

Shrouded in Mystery

There isnt a whole lot of information available on this mysterious LG device right now. In fact, all the details we could muster up on the LG Optimus Pad were sourced from one of the events that LG held to promote a number of their upcoming devices.

As of the moment, LG is keeping their lips sealed regarding the specs of the device and all we were gifted with was a sneak peek at the device. By sneak peek we mean a literal quick peek at how the device will look like once it hits market stands. Theres no surprise here as the device looks like any other tablet currently available in the market.

In fact, we couldnt even tell if it looked more like a typical tablet or an ordinary touch screen device. All we know is that (according to LG) the Optimus Pad is going to be thinner and lighter than competitors tablets.

Android-ified

Perhaps the biggest piece of information LG set free was the fact that their tablet will run with the Google Android operating system. This doesnt surprise us at all as a majority of the upcoming tablets are Android-powered devices. Nonetheless, this doesnt disappoint us as it is in our opinion that the Android is currently the premier mobile OS in Smartphones.

Unfortunately we have yet to be able to test any Android-equipped tablet, but one can only imagine what this amazing OS can do given a bigger screen and enhanced touch functionality. Based on this certain fact alone, we can definitely say that there is much to be excited about the LG Optimus Pad.

There are a lot of critics who have been claiming that the Android will have a difficult time transitioning into the tablet arena and to some extent, we see where this notion might be coming from. However, we cant really say that we agree and basing it solely on Google and the Androids track record, we are almost certain that sooner or later this too will be the leading tablet OS in the market.

How It Will Fare

Right now, its too early to tell how the LG Optimus Pad will perform in the market and whether or not it will be up to par with the already established Apple iPad. It is still in its embryonic stage and until we are able to garner more details on the device (and once we are actually able to get our hands on it for testing), all we can do is look forward to the launch of this tablet with a lot of excitement in our bellies.
