The main requirements for pursuing work in animator careers is an artistic talent

, familiarity with the latest in animation technology, and a flair for turning thoughts into compelling images. All of this required talent and knowledge is then used to effectively communicate an idea, tell a story, or develop your on screen character effectively.

If you feel that you can accomplish this then perhaps becoming an animator could be a valid choice in careers. Do not be misled though animation is not used just for creating the cartoons we all love. It is also used in an endless stream of different graphics projects.

Work for animators can be found in the movie or television industry, video game design, web design and advertising firms. Freelance projects are also an option for many an animator, but most especially for those who chose to create animation for the web.

One area of the animation industry that is constantly being pushed forward is that of video games. More and more realistic action is being demanded by those who purchase the games. Therefore an animator that is a specialist in the video game field must be prepared to utilize available techniques to compete in their chosen business. Techniques which include texture mapping, motion capture to enable the characters to move more realistically, and effective lighting effects.

What is also important for a video game animator to understand and practice is being a team player. A cohesive team is nearly always essential in order to bring a particular game to life. But the one goal that is always kept in mind is the desire to catch and keep the player's interest.

At the top of many web pages there is more likely than not an animated advertisement. There is an increasing demand for something that is truly a unique experience for the person browsing the web that must be met. Sadly the age is passing when a static image fulfilled that order. A viewer's attention is far more likely to be caught by movement and/or sound.

Most of the entry level jobs out there require a Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field. Fields such as media or fine arts. Many schools that teach animation also offer courses in computer animation and the technologies that are associated with it.

A training course also offers another advantage that a must for landing the job you crave. It allows you to create a body of work that is strong enough to place in your portfolio. Therefore you are able to show a potential employer what you are capable of accomplishing.

So if you are really considering seeking out a job in the entertainment or other industry by choosing an animator career then it would do you good to keep in mind that you must have a talent for telling a convincing story and an artistic talent. Other great asset is an ability to work with the technology that is currently available and not feel the least bit intimidated.
