The Most Effective Method to Burn Fat

To lose weight, specifically to lose body fat weight there is one method of training

that is the most effective for someone looking to start on their fat loss journey. Keep in mind their is a tried and true method of losing weight with dieting being the most important aspect. But when it comes to weight lifting, their are many different methods that people claim to work - but there is one that has been proven for years.

The most effective method to burn fat contains exercising all major muscle groups. The more muscles you exercise, the more energy consumption you use, the more calories you burn, the more your body digs into its fat reserves. Lets look at a classic example. If you were to do 12 reps of 3 sets of bicep cable curls your caloric expenditure would be limited. This is because you are targeting a small isolated muscle group - the biceps. But, if you we're to do 12 reps of 3 sets on the leg press - your caloric expenditure would be much greater. Simply just compare the muscle groups being used. Only biceps with your curls, or glutes, hamstrings, and quads (calves if you go on your toes) with the leg press. Your entire lower body compared to a small muscle on your arm. But you did the same reps and sets right? That doesn't matter. What matters is how many muscles each exercise demands. An important rule to remember when you're looking to lose body fat weight is you need to exercise your large muscle groups (legs, back, chest) often to increase metabolic rate which triggers fat loss. This is the most effective method to burn fat.

This method is useless unless you do it properly though. The way to maximize this effect is to have a proper balance of the right exercises. The general rule is your workouts exercises should be split into 2 categories - upper and lower body. Starting with the upper body, we break it down into 2 planes with 2 different motions. The first plane is vertical. The motions include a push and a pull; every pull-down exercise (ex. wide grip lateral pull) you need to push exercise (ex. military press). This allows for your workouts to be dynamic, and work all parts of your muscle groups, causing increased metabolic rate which will initiate a hormonal response to burn more calories and help you lose body fat. The second plane is horizontal and again, for every push you need a pull. For example seated row needs to be complemented with bench press. This is the most effective method to burn fat and allows you to hit every major muscle group in your upper body - the more muscles you work properly - the more body fat you can lose.

Onto the lower body, which has similar rules. However, the lower body is a little bit easier to target because there are exercises which already work multiple large muscle groups which accelerates your goals to lose body fat weight. Squats (weighted squats if you can), dead-lift, leg press, weighted lunges are all exercises that target multiple muscle groups in your lower body. The more muscle groups one exercise can target, the more energy required. Energy consumption is always a good property to measure how effective your weight loss workouts are performing. Usually a high intensity multiple muscle group workout requires lots of energy - a dynamite combo for rapid fat loss.


The method above is the most effective method to burn fat, and the best part is workouts structured like this target the complete body. The benefit of this is it allows you to lose body fat weight, not just butt weight, stomach fat or thigh weight - it's the complete package.
