The Necessity Of Quality Management Systems
Most businesses and organisations need to have in place some kind of quality management
systems so that their customers can be assured of quality projects. These days when there are so many companies in the workplace all competing for their share of customers, quality assurance of any project will ensure that your company will have many satisfied customers - many of whom will be repeat customers and bring others in with them. This is one way of ensuring success in the workplace.
These systems can be instigated in just one department of the company, but in reality it is better that they are installed throughout each department, since most projects will have parts reaching into those departments. For instance, the costing of any project will start in the financial department even though it is nothing to do with finances. Time management and risk management can also be included as parts of most projects.
Work has to be coordinated across many facets to ensure the ultimate good of the project. Each day choices will have to be made about where and how to concentrate resources and effort and potential issues will need to be identified and addressed before they become critical. There may be competing objectives and alternatives for which trade-offs will need to be made.
Project integration management is the process by which this is done. While there is no best or single way to manage a project, most project managers have to apply their management skills, knowledge and processes in order to achieve the desired effect. This may be easy or more difficult depending on the project and how comprehensive it is. Many activities will need to be performed in order to get the project completed and achieve a quality result.
The right
product development solutions will encompass such processes as analysing and understanding the scope of the project, documenting specific requirements, transforming information into a plan, preparing the work structure, identifying risks, monitoring and controlling the actual work on the project and getting feedback, as well as many other facets of the project.
In addition there may need to be late changes made in the project and these will need to be carefully managed to ensure that the customers needs are fully met. Once the project is completed there should be a project close meeting to both get feedback on how things were handled and discuss difficulties encountered and how they can be prevented the next time.
