Amongst Nokia's barrage of new handset releases is the C3

, a handset designed to get the job done rather than act as a fashion statement. It features similar specs to many other phones, such as a digital camera. This is 2 mega pixels rather than 5 or 8 mega pixels for example, so it is clear to see Nokia are offering a budget alternative.

The dimensions of the C3 are 115.5x58.1x13.6mm, and it weighs in at a mere 114 grams. Its light weight and compact dimensions make it a pocket friendly handset which is also a pleasure to use. The front of the unit is dominated by a full QWERTY keyboard, offering an efficient means of entering text.

The 2 mega pixel camera operates at a pixel resolution of 1600x1200, making the pictures of reasonably high quality with good levels of detail and clarity. The camera can also shoot video, in QCIF quality at a rate of 15 frames per second, offering an alternative method of image capture.

A good level of everyday functionality is achieved due to the inclusion of a number of useful features. A versatile media player supports many different types of music and video file formats such as MP3 and MP4. A stereo FM radio player and a selection of downloadable games add to the options to keep users entertained. Social networkers are catered for with the inclusion of social networking integration. This offers a convenient way to share your thoughts with friends and family via popular websites such as Facebook.

Class 32 versions of both GPRS & EDGE provide the C3 with its initial means of connecting to cellular networks. Wi-Fi provides an internet connection wherever a wireless internet router is located. This utilises the signal provided by the router and provides a fast internet connection. Bluetooth version 2.1 is installed as standard, providing users with the means to connect to other compatible phones in the same area in order to carry out tasks such as sharing music files or other data. Micro USB connection means that the handset can also be connected directly to a computer in order to carry out tasks such as transferring media files or backing up contact info.

The 2.4 inch TFT screen utilises a pixel layout of 320x240 pixels in order to display up to 256,000 colours. This gives the screen a high level of on screen display quality with good levels of detail and clarity.

55 MB of internal memory is provided within the C3, so a decent amount of data such as music tracks, video files or photos can be stored. A micro SD slot is also provided for the same purpose, which can accommodate a memory card of up to 16 GB. The internal phonebook can store a seemingly endless number of entries, and includes the popular photocall function. This allows a photo to be assigned to each contact, and this is then displayed on the screen whenever that person calls.

For a budget handset, the Nokia C3 offers a high level of functionality, and is even available in a range of colours to keep style conscious users satisfied.
