Nokia and has recently announced a number of new handsets

, including the impressively functional E5. The and its key features include a five mega pixel camera, a full qwerty keyboard and Wi-Fi Internet access for a fast web browsing experience.

Vibration and ringing are the primary alert types prompting users to incoming voice calls and text messages. Users have the option to assign MP3 files as ringtones allowing customisation of the handset in order to hear the song of their choice any time the phone rings. Handsfree communication is made possible thanks to the inclusion of a 3.5 mm audio Jack and a built in speakerphone system.

A number of connectivity features are utilised by the Nokia E5 in order to provide optimal connectivity dependent upon location and network coverage. Class 32 versions of both EDGE & GPRS keep the handset connected to cellular networks in areas with little or no 3G coverage. Wi-Fi Technology is utilised whenever a signal from a wireless Internet router is available in order to provide a fast web browsing experience at broadband speeds. In areas covered by 3G, an HSDPA connection provides access to the Internet at speeds of up to 10.2 mega bytes per second (along with HSUPA at 2 MB per second). Bluetooth and micro USB connections both provide the means to connect the handset to other compatible hardware devices such as other phones and computers allowing a number of tasks to be carried out.

Internal memory in the Nokia E5 is 250 MB as standard allowing ample storage for a number of files such as music tracks, video clips or photos. A micro SD slot is also included for this purpose and comes with a pre-installed 2 GB memory card, although further storage can be attained by swapping this for a larger memory card of up to 32 GB. This should be ample for the needs of most users and is capable of storing an entire digital music collection.

The dimensions of the Nokia E5 are 115x 58.9x 12.8 mm and it weighs in at just 126 g. Its pocket friendly dimensions and light weight make the handset comfortable to hold and use on the move. Appearance wise, the Nokia E5 is reminiscent of many blackberry models, thanks largely to the full QWERTY keyboard.

The 2.4 inch TFT screen utilises a pixel layout of 320x 240 pixels in order to display up to 256K colours, providing excellent quality and detail of on screen imagery.

As mentioned, the Nokia E5 is equipped with an impressive digital camera boasting five mega pixels, which operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels for excellent detail and clarity of still images. Fixed focus and LED flash simplify the task of taking quality photos even in low lighting conditions. The camera can also shoot video in VGA quality at a rate of 15 frames per second, offering an alternative method of image capture.

The Nokia E5 combines excellent functionality and specifications with appealing modern design, so it will come as a surprise if the handset is anything less than popular.
