Palio di Siena is more just a contest. A standardized clash among the different contrade fires up the festival. Each contrade attempts not only to win but to be an integral part of this occasion with enthusiasm and self-importance. "Nonna" or grandmother is granted for the contrada who finishes very last or who has the longest time since a victory. The Lupa Contrada still has the Nonna title until today. At present, the Contrada of Oca has the most number of victories.
