The Perfection Of Prefabricated Sheds And Buildings
There are lots of construction techniques used in the production of storage sheds
and buildings and many of these have changed over the last 100 years because of human innovation. Once upon a time, sheds were hand crafted from wood and buildings were almost entirely built by hand; this takes time and adds tremendous labour costs to the finished products. Now however, there is a far more modern approach to the production of sheds and buildings; prefabrication. This approach to the production of buildings allows economies of scale and mass production to be achieved; similar to making a tin of soup or a pencil.
There are of course quite large differences between a prefabricated shed and a tin of soup however, the idea is the same; make a product in such a way so that it can be produced cheaply and with consistent quality. The one underlying benefit to these types of buildings is that they are almost always made from concrete as this is an easy material to work with in mass production. The benefit to the consumer is that prefabricated buildings are not only well priced but they are also very strong and long lasting.
A wooden shed may last 3-4 years in a garden before eventually succumbing to weathering; a prefabricated concrete shed could easily expect to last 2 or 3 times longer. Furthermore, many people store some rather expensive tools and equipment in sheds and concrete is far harder to break into than a flimsy piece of wood. When a prefabricated shed is looked at in this light, it is very hard to find reasons against choosing them over an insecure, hand built wooden shed; after all peace of mind is important to lots of homeowners.
Prefabricated buildings on the other hand, are not in the business of challenging their wooden counterparts; after all it is rare for larger buildings to be made of this material. Instead, the term prefabricated buildings is often used as the generic term to describe stand-alone garages, workshops or light industrial buildings. These buildings are generally built by hand with bricks and mortar while using antiquated, traditional techniques. As such a hand built brick garage would take many weeks to complete and roof not to mention the fact it would cost a significant amount of money. Using a prefabricated garage means that they can be both quickly and cheaply installed as they are effectively flat packed garages.
