The Police Recruitment Interview Explained
If you are applying to the police force, you know that a lot rides on your police interview
. But you don't need to worry. By keeping a few things in mind, you can find that passing your police interview is not as difficult as you think it might be.
Most police interviews will have several parts. This is because they want to test you on different areas and find out as much about you as possible. If you are prepared for this, you will not feel discouraged about the fact that it is as long a process as it is.
One of the best tips is to be as involved as possible with the police force you are trying to join. Participate in ride alongs, join the auxillary, volunteer at events if possible. This will give you an idea of the general personalities that they are interested in and will also let them get to know you.
There is nothing that will replace book learning so you should take as many courses as possible that will have to do with your work. This means taking corrections and psychology courses so that you have a wide range of skills at your disposal. If you can show that you have been working hard and putting in the time, you stand a better chance of passing your police interview.
If you have taken the test in the past and been turned down, consider trying to find out what areas were a problem. You may not be able to find out definite answers but if you ask the right people you might be able to find out what areas they felt you were not as strong in. If there are areas, concentrate on those, do some more background work, and try again.
Be physically fit. If you keep in shape, you will stand a better chance of passing any physical testing that is required for the position. Don't be surprised if there are physical requirements This is because being a police officer is a physically demanding job and so you may need a physical test to determine what kind of shape you are in.
Don't be surprised if you do need to take the testing several times. It can be discouraging but if you put your mind to it and look ahead rather than what the past outcome was, you may find that you pass your police interview with flying colors.
