What is a postgraduate education? It is the type of education when a student receives a higher degree. Of course, one obligatory option is to have a Bachelor degree. This type of degree may be known to you by the name "baccalaureate".

Bachelor degree is received by an undergraduate course. If you want to receive it you have to study two or six years. Why the range is so wide? It all depends on the educational establishment where you receive your education and on the specialty chosen by you. So, let us imagine that you have already received your degree of Bachelor. Of course, United States has its own process of admission. As it has already been mentioned, in order to apply for further education you are to be already a Bachelor. Besides you will probably need the scores of such tests as: Standardized test, Graduate Management Admission Test, Medical College Admission Test, Dental Admission Test, Graduate Record Examination Subject Test, and Law School Admission Test.

But do not be afraid of this list, perhaps you will not need all these papers because requirements differ in different institutions. Another thing you will need before application is a recommendation letter from your mentor or supervisor. This letter should contain the information about your undergraduate research experience.

This document is rather important, because it shows if you are ready to perform your future research work or not. If you are not a citizen of United States you will probably need the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
