The Pros And Cons Of Wireless Technology In Speakers
Theres no doubt that technological advances are occurring at a rate that we have never seen before
, and these leaps are constantly growing too. From new interfaces for control such as the touch screen, to extremely versatile and useful mediums such as the Internet its hardly surprising that digital technology is already shaping so many aspects of our lives, and the title of the digital era is certainly one that is becoming increasingly fitting. Aside from the World Wide Web and touch screens, one significant technological development that will certainly have some quite sizable implications is wireless technology.
It seems that wireless technology is inevitably going to play a substantial role in many products in the future, and sometime, (hopefully in the not too distant future); the world will be void of any wires. Its fair to say that wireless technologies have already begun to shape, not only our products, but also aspects of our daily lives too, it was only a couple of months ago that the analogue television signal was turned off to make room on those higher frequencies for wireless networks such as 4G. It is surprising that this hadnt happened sooner when you consider the fact that it was as long ago as 1947 when Benjamin Franklin first proposed a model of electricity that actually proved that electricity could be transmitted through the air.
As wireless technology has progressed and become more reliable manufacturers have found an increasing number of practical applications for it, aside from the obvious products such as radios and remotes, for instance Wi-Fi is now commonly used in many households and establishments as a means of distributing Internet. Many manufacturers are now producing fully functional wireless speakers too, however because these are cutting edge technology there is always a risk of there being some initial bugs that still need to be ironed out, to help you to make an informed decision here are some of the pros and cons associated with wireless speakers:
-Some of the newer models are quite versatile and can be used for a variety of tasks in addition to being able to transmit frequencies through walls and other solid objects, this leaves far more choice in terms of speaker placement.
-Newer models also tend to be quite durable can cope with most weather.
-Obviously the lack of wires is a plus too
-Older models may require line of sight to operate if they use infrared transmissions.
-Radio transmissions provide an alternative but these signals can be subject to interference and even distorted by electromagnetic waves.
