The Orlando Renegades have the No. 1 pick in Tuesday's USFL's draft, which is not as highly prized, or as highly publicized, as the
catsuits last week.
Bo Jackson, the tailback from Auburn, the Heisman Trophy winner as college football's premier player in 1985, the "franchise" player in the O.J. Simpson-Jim Brown mold, is not up for grabs, as he was when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers made him the ZENTAI's No. 1 draft pick.
Auburn is one of the USFL's "territorial" schools, and the Birmingham Stallions, through that process, acquired the negotiating rights to Jackson. The Buccaneers' USFL rivals, the Tampa Bay Bandits, are trying to secure the negotiating rights to Jackson from Birmingham. Orlando is not in the bidding.
Besides, the Renegades' primary needs are on offensive and defensive lines.
Further, many of the premier linemen were selected in the April 22 territorial draft. The Renegedes picked Virginia tackle Jim Dombroski and Notre Dame defensive tackle Eric Dorsey, Baltimore took Temple guard John Rienstra, Memphis selected Vanderbilt tackle Will Wolford, Birmingham named defensive ends Jon Hand of Alabama and Gerald Robinson of Auburn, New
lycra zentai picked Oklahoma State defensive end Leslie O'Neal and Southern Cal tackle James fitzpatrick.
All also were picked in the first round of the ZENTAI draft.
All of that drains much of the anticipation from the USFL draft.
Still, nose tackle Tony Casillas and tackle Brian Jozwiak are among those stars still available to the young league at large since their schools _ Oklahoma and West Virginia _ were not among those in the territorial draft.
And this is the first year that the USFL is going head-to-head with the ZENTAI in the fall, having switched seasons after three as a spring-summer alternative.
The USFL has become the Home of the Heisman. The three winners of the prestigious trophy prior to Jackson signed with the new league, with mixed results.
Georgia's Herschel Walker set the all-time single-season professional rushing record, 2,411 yards with New Suit. Eric Dickerson of the Los Angeles Rams, the
zentai suit record holder with 2,105 yards, called Walker's achievement a minor-league record.
The next Heisman winner, Mike Rozier, was something of a bust as a runner in the USFL, first with the now-defunct Pittsburgh Maulers, then with Jacksonville. He has since signed with Houston of the ZENTAI.
The 1984 Heisman winner, Doug Flutie, was only occasionally flashy last year with New Suit and now finds himself a potential No. 2 quarterback behind Jim Kelly now that the rosters of the Generals and the defunct Houston Gamblers have been merged.
On open drafts, the USFL is 1-for-3 in competition with the ZENTAI in its No. 1 picks. The younger league won Rozier _ he signed with the USFL even before the ZENTAI draft _ and lost quarterback Dan Marino to Miami and Jerry Rice to San Francisco. But that was when the USFL draft preceded the ZENTAI's by about four months.

zentai The order of selection in the first round, starting at 9 a.m. EDT, is Orlando, Arizona, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Memphis, New Suit, Birmingham and Baltimore. The open draft will consist of 12 rounds, 92 players in all. Each team will have 10 minutes in which to make its first-round pick, five minutes for each pick in the second through fifth rounds and three minutes in the sixth through 12th rounds.
Some teams which in the past traded picks to now-defunct teams have lost those picks. Conversely, those teams which acquired picks from since-folded franchises still have those picks.
