It happens that some scientists apply for a job in government laboratories. God knows why they choose this way in their life. They are investigating various phenomena in different fields. And this investigation must be for the benefit of the society as government takes care of its society. And do not forget about global problems because there are so many of them and many of them are still unsolved. The reasons why scientists work there may be different. On the one hand they work there for personal needs (governmental salaries are rather high) and on the other hand they need money for the research. You see, some researches take too much money, and if a scientist wants to finish his research successfully he/she has to find this amount of money. The work for government differs greatly from the work for college/university. Besides the research a university scientist has to write various articles, scientific works and participate in various conferences. A governmental scientist is to work over concrete issues.
The Disadvantages of Work for Government
Although researches for government and university are quite similar but the research for the government is characterized by narrower and more profound field of work. One disadvantage of the scientific work for the government is that scientists usually spend a long period of time over the research far away from home; they can be sent even aboard. The reason is that the research center can be situated on distant places away from cities and towns. For example if the investigation is in the sphere of various solar phenomena in a desert scarcely the government laboratory will be placed somewhere in forest. And of course this fact may change the whole situation: if a scientist does not want to go far away from home he will unlikely apply for a place in government laboratory.
