Nobody wants to go into business just so he could lose money right
? Every business owners dream is to expand his business and earn more money. Some go into business with noble intentions like helping the community by giving the locals employment. Whatever your reason might be, never forget that for all of these dreams to become a reality, inventory control is a must.
Inventory or stock control will help you keep your business costs down. Having a good inventory control will help you know what goods are moving and what are not. If you don't have control over the inventory or your stocks, you will keep on ordering the goods that you THINK are moving but in fact are not. Simply put in any kind of business you need to have control over everything that is going on around you.
Inventory control helps you become productive by allowing you to know what your consumers want and what they don't want. This will help you keep your money rolling instead of it sleeping through the products that are not moving or not moving up to speed.
If you have a good idea of what stocks are not moving then you start putting it out on the "specials lane" where you can give discounts or freebies just so you could let go of these products.
Ever notice how grocery stores have a designated place for "specials lane"? They would put out products that in about two months or so will expire. Will they just let these still good products to to waste or would they want consumers to buy it? Of course they want these products sold. But how do they know which products need to go now and which products don't?
This is because they have a firm grip on their stocks and they want to let go of non moving products as early as possible. If these products don't get snatched up and they are about to expire, then it will be a big loss for them. So before this happens, they need to put it out and recoup their investment. Now that is a good stock control strategy that you as a small business owner need to do.
