The Root Cause Of Your Kidney Disease Is The Key To Healing

If you have been diagnosed with, or think that you have some form of kidney disease

, you will probably be curious to know what caused it in the first place. Some kidney problems are congenital, meaning that you may have been born with a certain abnormality or condition that affects the kidneys. But most kidney diseases are the result of the kidneys living in an unhealthy and stressed body. Poor food choices, ingesting toxins such as pharmaceutical medications or heavy metals, untreated medical conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes and leading a stressful lifestyle are all prime examples of triggers for kidney damage.

Some of the most basic and common kidney problems result simply from the kidneys being overworked. If the water that we drink is not pure, over the years the sediment, or chemicals in treated water can build up in our systems. Toxins in the form of pharmaceutical medicines, especially those that you take regularly for extended periods of time, are difficult for the kidneys to process. If the foods that we eat are full of chemical preservatives, artificial colors and flavourings, pesticides and hormones, the kidneys need to try to deal with filtering out all of these things. It's no wonder with what we put our kidneys through on a daily basis that they get tired and eventually wear out!!

People with diabetes often develop kidney damage. In fact, unmanaged diabetes is the leading cause of severe kidney problems. Diabetes can cause changes in small blood vessels of the kidneys that filter out wastes, making it very difficult or impossible for the kidneys to do their job correctly. If you have diabetes, managing your diabetes correctly will help prevent or slow down damage to your kidneys.

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is also correlated to kidney problems. Every single year, high blood pressure is said to cause over 25,000 new cases of kidney failure, and that just in the United States! What happens when you have high blood pressure your heart has to work harder, and this extra stress can wreak havoc on blood vessels all over your body. If the blood vessels in the kidney area are damaged, they will no longer be able to do their job of removing wastes and extra fluids. This becomes a very scary cycle, because then the additional fluid in the vessels can then increase the blood pressure even further.

Some types of kidney problems, such as 'glomerulonephritis', are caused by inflammation of the tiny filtration units in the kidneys. This can begin to happen right away after the body has had to deal with something minor, like strep throat, or it can be inflammation that has been allowed to build up over the years. When the filtration units are inflamed, they cannot work properly.

If a person has cysts or tumors in the kidney area, it can lead to painful blockages, severe back pain, and will impede the kidneys from being able to do their job effectively. This can become a serious issue very quickly, and should be treated immediately.

Some kidney diseases are inherited, such as Alport's Syndrome, primary hyperoxaluria and cystinuria. If you have a history in your family of these kidney issues, you should take extra precaution to keep your kidneys as strong, clean, and healthy as possible.

As you can see, there are many causes of kidney disease. The good news is that there are a wide variety of treatments available to help slow kidney damage and to get your kidneys back on their way to proper functioning. A proper diagnosis of what is causing your kidneys to not function correctly is the first step towards finding a solution to restore them back to health. You will be relieved to know that no matter what your cause of kidney damage, there is a wide range of natural therapies available that can not only help to improve your kidney health, but specifically treat the cause of kidney damage to help keep your kidneys healthy in the future.
