The Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks is one of the 32 NFL teams. Those who are interested in watching a good match look for Seahawks tickets. In 1976, the Seattle Seahawks, together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, joined the National Football League as expansion teams. A group of Seattle business and community leaders first decided to purchase a franchise in NFL in 1974. The Seattle Seahawks became an NFL franchise in 1976. As a representative of the Nordstorm family, the majority partner of the group, Lloyd W.Nordstorm was awarded the franchise. In a bitter twist of fate, Nordstrom died of a heart attack a few months before the first game of the Seahawks.

Those buying the Seahawks tickets might not know where the team got its name. Like most teams, the team was named through a public naming contest. Of the over 20,000 entries, the name Seahawks was submitted by Peninsula High School, the original Seahawks.

Between 1994 and 1999, the Seahawks considered the Kingdome Stadium as their home. Fans who supported the team not only by purchasing Seahawk tickets and watching the game but also by cheering them on, made it possible for the Kingdome Stadium to be dubbed as the loudest stadium in NFL. The team retired the number 12 and decided that the fans should wear that number. Since 2002, the team has been playing in the former Seahawks Stadium, now the Qwest Field. Though they moved to a different stadium, Seahawks tickets were continuously patronized by their loyal fans. In 2005, the Seahawks played against the New York Giants where the Giants committed 11 false starts because of the clamor of the Seahawks fans.

In their history, the Seattle Seahawks has won six division titles. In 1988 and 1999, the Seahawks won the AFC West titles. They also won at the NFC West in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2005, they also managed to win the NFC Championship Game. The Seahawks played in the Super Bowl in 2006 for the Super Bowl XL.

The co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen, is the owner of the Seahawks since 1997 to present. Allen hired Mike Holmgren to be the head coach of the team in 1999. Under his watch, the team has excelled in the sport.
