The Secret To Cooking The Perfect Baby Back Ribs

As much as almost everyone loves baby back ribs and cooks want to cook it more often

, it is a risky dish to prepare. Those who have tried cooking barbequed ribs know that ribs have a tendency to get tough, dry and burned. Slopping it with gallons of barbecue sauce doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Ribs that have been barbecued well turn out tender, juicy and flavorful. Unfortunately, to many cooks, successfully cooking barbecued ribs is more of a hit and miss thing.

It doesn't have to be that way though. There is a secret to cooking ribs to perfection. With it, you can say goodbye to tough, dry ribs without any flavor. Once you learn the trick, be ready to be proclaimed as a master in the art of barbecued ribs.

Below are the steps to cooking the perfect barbecued ribs. It involves some pre-grilling preparations.

Step 1. You will need a few hours to prepare your ribs. Four hours before serving, take out your completely thawed ribs from their packaging and season them according to your taste. Flavor it with your choice of spices and brush a layer of barbecue sauce. Slather large amounts of it on the meat.

Step 2. Use aluminum foil to tightly wrap the ribs.

Step 3. You need to cook the wrapped ribs slowly in the oven for three hours at 200 Fahrenheit or 93 Celsius. Later on, you will finish them on your barbeque grill.

The ribs are cooked at the low heat of 200F in order to tenderize the ribs from the inside out. This prevents the surface of the ribs to be damaged. At the same time, it will destroy all forms of pork bacteria which are killed at 150F. This will ensure that no one who eats your ribs will suffer from food poisoning.

A word of caution: After about 2 to 2 hours, make sure to check on the tenderness of the ribs. Leaving it in the oven too long will make the meat too tender that it will fall off the bone. You need to make sure that you take them out of the oven before this happens.

Step 4. Take out the ribs from the foil and baste them on both sides with generous amounts of your favorite barbecue sauce.

Step 5. To finish the ribs, place them on your barbecue grill. Because they are now completely cooked, just leave them on the grill to darken the exterior according to your preference. Dousing the ribs with barbeque sauce as you grill them will prevent the meat from getting too dry. It is time to take them out of the grill when both sides become crisp.

The tender and juicy ribs you enjoy are really quite simple to prepare but it takes time and patience to soften the meat. I always tenderize the ribs before I grill them and using a gas barbeque to finish will give you the perfect baby back ribs.
