The September Issue at Vogue

A large community outside of the fashion world would want to take a sneak peek at

the making of the biggest issue of the Vogue magazine, the September issue. Having been portrayed as the ruthless and brutally frank editor-in-chief by Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, one could not help but wonder about the anxiety when in the presence of Anna Wintour. The documentary 'The September Issue' could have revealed a little more than just that. As the movie followed the tour of the Vogue office in the midst of hectic preparation for the September issue, Grace Coddington, creative director of Vogue can be seen as the second most, if not just as important role as Anna Wintour in crafting the magazine before deadline. The viewers can see from the movie that Grace is a dynamic force in creating artistically creative photo shoots but not without a pinch of frustration over rejected pictures, removed shoots and little arguments with the editor-in-chief. Anna Wintour isn't exactly every bit of the character that she was portrayed in The Devils Wears Prada as she was tolerable and reasonable, although still deemed as 'not accessible to people she doesn't want to have access with'. As the documentary progressed, even when she and Grace were debating over different opinions, the audience can realize the understated appreciation that the former has for the latter. This movie could have been a fast forwarded episode over the many months that the Vogue magazine actually took to come up with one September issue but it exposed still the inside view of the making of. Revealing to the world that over the many disagreements the two eminent roles of Vogue have, all of them are enlaced with subtle love.
