For many years, parties have been an important social function
. When 25 people or more gather at a specific location with the intent of having fun and engaging in conversation, as well as partaking of good food, it can be considered a party. Parties usually have different drinks and food options, and music is a large part of the event, very often.

Sporting events often bring about parties, as people enjoy celebrating team spirit. These parties can get quite loud. Chips and dip, buffalo and chicken wings, and hamburgers are usually offered at sports parties for food options. People enjoy laughing, drinking, and cheering for their favorite teams at parties like this, which may be centralized around the Super Bowl or World Cup for example.

Sometimes divorce parties are even held when a couple separates.
