The Sony Ericsson Zylo Is An Effective Music Phone by:Chris Westley
Sony Ericsson has recently added to its range of slider handsets with the Zylo
. This aesthetically pleasing handset features built in Walkman Technology for excellent music playback as well as a number of other exciting features.
The Sony Ericsson Zylo features of 2.6 inch TFT screen. It is capable of displaying up to 256K colours within a pixel setup of 240x 320 pixels, therefore offering great quality display of on screen images. The screen itself is manufactured from scratch-resistant materials, protecting it from everyday wear and tear. An accelerometer sensor is built into the screen which automatically rotates the onscreen content allowing it to be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms.
The Zylo is a relatively compact handset, measuring 103x 52x 11.5 mm. Its dimensions make it a pocket friendly phone whilst its light weight of just 115 g also means it is very comfortable to hold and use on the move.
In order to provide the Sony Ericsson Zylo with optimum levels of connectivity to both cellular networks and the Internet, a number of methods are employed. Primarily, connections to cellular networks of via class 10 versions of both EDGE & GPRS. In order to connect to the Internet, the Zylo initially utilises 3G connectivity. This is provided via an HSDPA connection at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes (along with HSUPA at 2 MB per second). Bluetooth and USB connections are also installed as standard allowing the handset to connect to a range of other compatible hardware devices in order to carry out a range of functions.
The Sony Ericsson Zylo is equipped with a digital camera boasting 3.15 mega pixels, operating at a pixel resolution of 2048x 1536 pixels. The camera includes features such as geo-tagging, which utilises GPS to record the location at which a photo was taken. As an alternative method of image capture, the camera can also shoot video and features the ability to make video calls.
As mentioned, this aesthetically pleasing Walkman phone access at media playback and the internal media player supports a wide range of different music and video file formats. Additional entertainment options include a stereo FM radio player and a range of pre-installed games, some of which a motion based which uses the inbuilt accelerometer. Also, access to a library of extra downloadable games is also provided. Social networkers are catered for thanks to dedicated applications to popular social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter. These allow users to share their thoughts with friends and family in a matter of seconds.
260 MB of internal storage is provided as standard. This is ample for storing a good number of music tracks, video clips or photos. Should further storage be required, the micro SD slot can be utilised and this can accommodate a memory card of up to 16 GB. The internal phonebook can store up to 2000 entries and includes the popular Photocall feature.
As well as its impressive functionality, the Sony Ericsson Zylo also offers aesthetic appeal as it is available in a number of different colour schemes. This is sure to attract the attention to fashion conscious users who also view their mobile phone as a fashion statement.
