The Spiro From Sony Ericsson-an Overview
For some people a phone is a very simple affair
, simply sending texts and making calls with perhaps the ability to store and listen to your music an attractive option. Enter the Sony Ericsson Spiro, a phone that does all of the above and a whole host more, without ever feeling the need to masquerade as a Smartphone.
As with previous Sony Ericsson Walkman models, multimedia functionality is right at the top of this handsets agenda. The phone incorporates a digital camera. Boasting a resolution of 2.0 million pixels, the unit is perfect for capturing moments whilst on the go. A digital zoom facility makes focusing on an object in the distance easier. The unit also allows you to capture video footage in QVGA. The 5MB of internal memory that the Spiro boasts is not adequate enough for heavy media usage, the addition of a microSD card slot however does allow this amount to be extended to up to 16GB. Being a "Walkman" phone beans it is designed to appeal to music lovers. This shows when it comes to using the handset as an audio player. The excellent Walkman UI makes navigating around your music a breeze. With the album art displayed everything looks stylish, and the provision is there to create your own playlists. Of course the more traditional search via album, artist or genre options are available. A 3.5mm headphone socket is fitted on the phone, allowing a multitude of different earphones to be used with the Spiro. Should the user tire of their own music, the in built FM radio can keep you upto date with local and national stations.
Connectivity is another key factor in many peoples mobile decisions, with Social networking perhaps being regarded as one of the most important phone functions. Sony Ericsson have acknowledged this by releasing the Spiro with in built Facebook and Twitter applications. To connect to such sites the Spiro supports EDGE, 2G Network, GPRS, GSM 900/1800 and GSM 850/1900, meaning the user can always be kept up to date, whether at home or on the move.
The Sony Ericsson Spiro is a slider styled mobile phone, meaning the size of the overall unit is very compact when closed, and when the screen is slid upwards a numeric keypad is revealed. This slide design suits the Spiro, keeping it looking compact and stylish despite not lacking in functionality. The phones 2.2" screen displays a 240 x 320 resolution, and the overall weight of just 90 grammes makes the Spiro easily pocketable.
The Sony Ericsson Spiro is a stylish handset that will immediately appeal to a teenage, early twentys crowd thanks to its excellent audio player and social networking capabilities.
