StumbleUpon works on a different formula than the search engines such as Google. The popularity of the websites in StumbleUpon is determined by readers. The public, who perceive value in certain sites, takes the time to promote the ones that they feel are the most useful and helpful.

Honestly, it doesn't take that much of a time investment on your part for StumbleUpon to suddenly increase your website traffic. It all starts with a single person giving your site a vote of confidence and passing on your link. If you get stumbled to your relevant market, watch the website counter roll!

You'll want your site to be rich with relevant content that sends a specific message. Ask a few friends, that are interested in your topic, to give you feedback on your site before making it public. You are looking for universal, mass appeal about your specific message.

In addition to taking the time to beef up your website, make sure that you interact with and friend people whose relevant sites truly appeal to you. Stay away from abusing your Twitter followers by sending false trumped up tweets about a message.
