The Sunshine Coast Rewarding Those That Give Back To The Community

On the Sunshine Coast, actually all over the country of Australia the citizens are willing to commit to making their communities better

. So there is a celebration, the Sunshine Coast Council Australia Day Awards, which rewards those citizens who make contributions to their community.

Those who are honored this way include organizations, individuals and businesses that make outstanding and remarkable contributions to society and those who are the true achievers in and around the Sunshine Coast. These awards are presented at a special ceremony which is held annually at Mooloolaba Beach.

An example of the awards would be a Senior Citizen of the Year and a Young Citizen of the Year along with outstanding contributions to the community noted in the areas of the Community, Business, the Environment, Sports and Recreation, plus some that have contributed in the Creative category too. Generally one business or individual will win awards in each one of the categories but sometimes the Council can't make a decision between two participants, and then they will award both.

This is a great benefit for the community to honor those who give so much and the Sunshine Coast does say thank you to them on the Australia Day Award Ceremony. The individuals or businesses who win a nomination are greatly honored, and then the winners are regarded with high respect by everyone in the area. All of these contributions from the citizens are very important to the Sunshine Coast in it's growth and success so acknowledging these contributions is a great way to acknowledge their efforts.

The nominations for next year are currently taken through the council offices and on their website. Anyone can nominate a business or individual for an award in any category, so if you know of someone who is making an outstanding contribution on the Sunshine Coast nominate them for a 2011 Australia Day Award. You never know they might just win.
