The Super Blackberry Curve 9360 Benefits From Great Design
RIM have introduced a new model into their range in the form of the Blackberry Curve 9360
. This model is aimed at the more budget end of the smartphone market but surprises us with some high specification and a design that makes it the most desirable Blackberry ever released.
When casting your eyes over this model for the first time the thing that strikes you is just how nice the handset looks. Older Blackberry models have all tended to look the same but it is evident that the developers here have attempted to create a model that can compete with the likes of Android and the iPhone in the style stakes. The Curve 9360 is a very small phone which makes a refreshing change from the dozens of large screened devices we have seen released recently. At just 11mm thick the device is very slim for a model sporting a physical keypad and at 99 grammes the model is one of the lightest handsets that you will encounter. Despite its light weight the model does manage to maintain a sense of great build quality which is often lacking in smaller models. It is clear that the designers have been hard at work with this model and it is very pleasing on the eye. The phone sports metallic edges with rounded corners and lots of curves as you would expect. If you look along the sides of the phone you will find buttons for controlling the volume and a dedicated camera button that launches the impressive 5 mega pixel camera feature. These buttons offer a rubber finish and are nicely built into the side of the phone so they no not protrude from the main chassis.
Looks are superb on the Blackberry Curve 9360 but operation of the model fails to match up to this high standard thanks to the lack of a touchscreen. More premium models in the range offer this facility but this is a budget handset and therefore some specification is sacrificed in order to make the model an attractive price. For anybody switching from an Android device the lack of a touchscreen may prove troublesome but Blackberry users will be familiar with the optical trackpad that this model incorporates that enables you to easily navigate around the screen. This trackpad is very accurate and is actually beneficial for certain tasks such as editing text documents. The phone uses a 2.44 inch display that can display a resolution of 480 x 360. This is a relatively high resolution for such a small screen and means that the model can display an impressive 246 pixels per inch.
Despite being a budget smartphone the Blackberry Curve 9360 outshines some of its more premium counterparts in the looks department whilst the high quality screen means that whatever material you are viewing appears crystal clear.
