I live close to Ogden, Utah and I recently became aware of a new mobile app called iOgden. Although still in its early stages, it is a great resource for great places to dine, shop and play in the Ogden area. Most of the establishments listed in this app are places I already frequent but when in a crunch to decide where to go on a Saturday night I pull up my app and have a nice list of suggestions. This is just one example of how brick and mortar businesses are not just going online, but going mobile.One of my favorite music stores has a text subscription code. I love it. I get alerts when new albums go on sale and when the store has a special discount or promotion. Call it advertising if you want but it's definitely news I want and care about. Text message advertising is definitely a sign that anyone who has something important to say should get on the mobile bandwagon. In order to stay ahead of the competition you've got to keep up with the technological curve. I check my text messages almost instantly. There is rarely a text message that goes unanswered, unread and discarded. I use the apps on my phone frequently and I cannot tell you how many times I've Googled something or looked up the website of a company while waiting for the doctor, a hair appointment or during my lunch break.More people are already using Facebook more frequently on their smartphones than they are using it on their computer. In fact, all predictions for computer sales in 2011 state that they expect the combined sales of smartphones and tablets to out sell pc's altogether. If Facebook hadn't developed a mobile app, would they be as successful? I talk to people every day who are more impressed with completely mobile wireless internet solutions such a Clear than they ever have been with their home internet solutions.
