A medium is a person who has the power of clairvoyance
. Clairvoyance has been derived from the two French words "clair"and "vovonce" meang clear and vision respectively. Hence clairvoyant is the person who has the ability or claims to have the ability of seeing things, people and objects that are beyond the human senses.
The discovery of clairvoyance is not new; humans have always had psychic [Dutch word: "paragnost info"] among them. Only the understanding of the concept keeps varying. In ancient time it was called as the "seer"which means a person with another vision and in present scenario the term "psychic" has been coined to define it. This has also been related to the third eye concept which has its description in different mythologies of various civilizations as their gods are believed to have a third eye. Third eye is defined as the souls eye and en body and the soul have to work simultaneously, third eye is believed to gets open. And thus clairvoyants are the people to have the third eye opened.
A medium can have number of feelings such as feeling of cool breeze even when the person is not out and no doors and windows are open and no air movement is there in the room, seeing someone at the corner of the eye and finding no one when looking straight at it or a sudden shoulder clutch as a natural reaction to someone being passing from close. Many people have these feelings of lesser degree and hence do not realize bearing the power or ignore them as some kind of hallucination, while the clairvoyants have the higher degree of these feelings and consciously follow through them sometimes to understand this and sometimes to use them wisely.
Unlike ancient time, presently there are many authors and psychologists who are researching and writing about this concept. This has helped many people bearing the power to understand this better who used to stay quiet about their powers in past. Just like there are two phases of coin, there are people who want to use these powers for wrong means and also there are those who want to use and see the good side of this concept.
