As the owner of Dillard and Associates, which focuses on employment staffing in Anaheim, California, Marcus Dillard and his team meet with every job seeker who requests his company's services to evaluate which positions they may be best suited for. According to Dillard, presenting yourself as the type of employee that a company has been dreaming of can become a bit of a guessing game.

Without knowing too much about the person who will ultimately be receiving your resume, you have to guess which aspects of your experiences in past careers will be the most intriguing. And while undoubtedly, relative experience is always important, when you're sending out your resume or interviewing with potential employers, there are also certain personality traits and work ethic characteristics that can ultimately have an impact on the likelihood of being hired as well.

Sometimes, the exact specifics of what an employer is searching for in job candidates varies from company to company, which is why it's important for our recruiters to meet with hiring managers before the job placement process can really begin. It's important that you don't need any hand holding and that you can easily convey to others that you are committed, diligent, and reliable. Additionally, the type of environment that you are most comfortable working in plays a part as well. If you are used to working in small business settings where managers and bosses are easily accessible, then you may not flourish as well in a large company. And, feeling uncomfortable in your position may hinder your ability to do your job well.

Past Experiences

You shouldn't let any past blunders keep you from pursuing a job you are passionate about. At Dillard and Associates, potential candidates are not immediately eliminated based on past mistakes because you should always be given the opportunity to grow. Too often, people are simply written off and aren't given the chance to prove that they have matured. If you are willing to prove yourself, then there is a good possibility that you may be able to secure an entry level position and work your way up from there.
