The Truth About Replacement Lenses

The avid sportsman has a closet full of gear

The avid sportsman has a closet full of gear. They love being active, but they also appreciate the safety that their protective gear provides. Whether they enjoy mountain biking, snowboarding, cross country skiing or swimming, they know how important a good pair of goggles or sunglasses are. But what do they do when their lenses break? Replacement lenses are available for purchase; usually in the same place they bought their sports equipment.

Replacement lenses are a requirement when the sportsmans goggles or sunglasses are used continually, especially in rough conditions (off roading, motocross, black diamond skiing).

Some of the most popular replacement lenses are made by Grapevine, Spike, Eyepatch and Radar, and most sports outfitters guarantee to replace lenses for free depending on the manufacturer warranty.

Replacement lenses usually have to be manufactured by the same company that made the goggles or sunglasses. Trying to use lenses that werent meant for the goggles of sunglasses might create risk for the sportsmans eyes or his/her body if the lenses fall or pop out while the wearer is trying to control a speeding ATV, motocross bike or speeding down hill towards a line of trees.

Just because a pair of goggles or sunglasses needs replacement lenses doesnt mean that the replacement lenses need be the same color or have the same coating as the lenses they are replacing. Wearers can choose to replace their broken or worn lenses with: amber, black, blue, emerald, grey, red, or pink lenses. Also, replacement lenses can be coated in glare resistant coatings, or scratch resistant coatings that will keep the sun out of the wearers eyes and ensures that the sportsman doesnt need to replace scratched lenses again for a long time.

To order a pair or replacement lenses, sportsmen only need to visit their local outfitter, eyewear outlet or specialty store. The salesmen will know what brand to look for, where to send them, or even how to replace them right there in the shop.

Replacement lenses arent cheap. Most lenses can cost up to $85, but sometimes a smart shopper can pick up a pair of replacement lenses for 60% off, at $20 but they must beware of people selling knock offs. Knock offs will save money, but the quality of lens is questionable. When playing hard, people want to be able to have confidence in their safety gear knock offs may look like the real deal, but when the time comes to prove themselves, they may fail and leave the wearer in a jam.
