The Truth About Spiritual Teachers And Enlightened Beings
If you are seeking enlightenment, it is important to understand that there is a huge
difference between the new age spiritual teachers that are popular today and the enlightened beings who have actually attained full enlightenment.
In the past, the majority of enlightened beings came from the East, places like India, China, Korea and Japan. Historically, teachings on spiritual enlightenment probably started out in India. From there it branched into Hinduism, Buddhism and then traveled further east turning from Buddhism, to Zen.
In the last hundred years, some of these enlightened teachers from the East started to visit the western countries and at the same time, westerners began to visit the eastern countries seeking enlightenment. And because of this, you could now probably find fully enlightened beings in many western countries.
But from here a lot of the teachings from enlightened beings started to be taught by spiritual teachers who did not attain enlightenment. They heard the teachings or read the teachings without fully realizing their meaning. And as the teachings get passed around like knowledge, the teachings themselves become watered down, distorted and changed into something that can be marketed. And because of this, the truth of those teachings gets lost.
And thus we now have spiritual teachers in the west that are selling teachings that tend to lead you away from enlightenment, not closer to it. They offer teachings that end up strengthening the ego instead of transcending it.
Now as a whole, these spiritual teachers may have a positive effect on western countries. They give people inspiration, build self confidence and make people feel better about themselves.
But for those that are seeking enlightenment but are still predominantly identified with their intellectual and emotional mind, these teachings are misleading. And it can be difficult for these seekers to see the difference between enlightened beings who are not well known and the charismatic spiritual teachers who are now in the spotlight.
Enlightenment means you no longer feel any separation between yourself and God - consciousness - the infinite, whatever you like to call it. In full realization, an enlightened being no longer tries to act a certain way as they experience everything as bliss. But unenlightened spiritual teachers often create a faade of enlightenment. And this faade tends to replace actual enlightenment. Beliefs about enlightenment tend to become more important than what enlightenment actually is.
And so now quite often, the fully enlightened teacher maybe publicly shunned because they do not fit to the faade that has been created about enlightenment out of ignorance. And the spiritual teachers who do fit the part simply because of good marketing now are at the forefront of what would be considered "teachings on enlightenment."
So what is wrong with the spiritual teachers? The problem lies in they are not enlightened beings, they are not in union with the divine energy and therefore they teach from the intellectual mind/ego. Many have had little or no enlightened experience at all.
The intellectual mind deals in duality. Right and wrong, good and bad and therefore is always in conflict. So ultimately, learning and practicing the teachings of spiritual teachers who still only experience the intellectual dual perspective can result in you experiencing more conflict, more stress, and more untruth. It moves you further and further away from the essence of peace that you are. Often their teachings are about building the ego up, not breaking the ego down to realize the essence of what you are.
The new age spiritual teachings tend to teach in a way that means you are adding layers on top of yourself, adding superficial peaceful personalities and beliefs that actually take you further away from the peace that is at your essence.
The path to enlightenment is moving the opposite way, it is becoming honestly aware and accepting of how you truly are in this moment, and in this allowing, you move through all of the layers of the identification of "me" until you realize the source of what you are. There is no adding anything. Any adding to what you are only takes you away from the truth, away from your source, not closer to it.
And the source of you is nondual. It is love without an opposite to that love. It is peace without an opposite to that peace. If you are an enlightened being you experience the very nature of everything as unconditional love and peace. It is complete freedom from dualistic perception; freedom from the conflicted intellectual mind.
How does an enlightened being free you from your intellectual mind and ego? Certainly through teachings, teaching certain practices like meditation.
But the main way a fully enlightened being teaches enlightenment is through simply being an enlightened being. Just by being, they naturally radiate the energy vibration that awakens you to enlightenment. And by sitting with them, this energy is transmitted to you. Their enlightened energy vibration awakens you at your core. Enlightenment begins to be awakened in you before the mind can even comprehend it. And this makes sitting with an enlightened being the easiest path to enlightenment. And this is something the new age spiritual teacher cannot do.
So you see, just by sitting in the presence of an enlightened being without them even speaking, you are bathed in this enlightened energy vibration and begin to realize enlightened experience. You could begin to automatically awaken to truth, consciousness and bliss without even having to learn a lot of teachings. More truthfully, you begin to unlearn. You begin to discard all of the useless knowledge that you have been carrying around because you begin to experience the truth within you, not in some teaching.
