The Turtles In Tulum Will Feed Your Soul

Summer is a really magical time of the year. I was blessed enough to spend several months within the Yucatan Peninsula vicinity this summer season. It was really a blessing to be there. I spent the majority of my time in a little beach/jungle settlement referred to as Tulum. Tulum is located inside the Riviera Maya approximately ninety miles to the south of Cancun and about 40 miles from Playa Del Carmen. It is a reasonably trouble-free cruise when you rent a car and take freeway 307 all of the way. You can also ride on the bus to get a very affordable cost. A taxi ride would not even be excessively outrageous either, but as a result of utilizing the bus or renting a car you would absolutely be saving cash. By far, my most favorite thing about Tulum would be the people. There are countless genuine people in Tulum, especially the area's Mayans and Mexicans who dwell there. An added majestic trait is the beaches. Tulum has a few of the most fantastic beaches inside the world. You most likely didn't know that at least one of the Corona commercials with the couple on the chairs on the beach was filmed here. Yes, it is as magical as you see on Television and yes, you must fly down for a vacation!

The initial beach I went to immediately moved towards the top of my finest beach experiences list. I had by no means experienced anything like it, it was so immaculate and peaceful . My acquaintances who are permanent residents down here call it Turtle beach, but actually the formal designation is Xcacel (esh-ca-sell). It is usually no more than a 10 minute car-ride north of Tulum on highway 307. Not surprisingly they entitled it turtle beach for the reason that when you visit at nighttime within the the first part of to mid summertime you can truly have the chance to witness genuine live sea turtles lay their eggs in the sand. Don't get too close during this process, you wouldn't want to scare the turtle. In addition, since this happens at night, the ideal time is when the moon and stars are shining bright. Flashlights will scare the turtle so you must choose a night when the sky is bright so that you can see.

If all your lucky stars align, you may be in for an experience unlike any you'll ever witness in nature. As luck had it, I was able to witness a live sea turtle laying eggs during my stay down here. I've had friends who have been living here for multiple years that still haven't seen one. It was a moment unlike any other I've ever had. With the calm waves splashing in the background and the full moon it made for a very amazing moment.

Going to Turtle Beach in the daylight hours is also quite an experience. The thing that really stood out to me was the small number of people there. It's almost like having you own private beach for the afternoon. I've never seen more than 50-100 people there and that is a busy day and still doesn't seem like much over the 3/4 mile stretch of beach. The small number of people makes this almost like your own slice of paradise. The waves are very small and so you can go into the 75-80 degree water and just relax with a beverage or play with the kids without having waves constantly smacking you. By the time the typically large ocean waves meet up with the Coral Reef which extends miles from shore, the same waves are tiny or non-existent when they reach Turtle Beach. If you are a big fan of snorkeling or scuba diving you'll love this area. The Coral Reef pretty much makes it an ideal place for these activities. Professional diving tours are offered by hundreds of experts in the Tulum area alone. The next time I'm back in this area, I will definitely be scuba diving.

I hope that time is soon. If you can't make it down to Tulum, Playa del Carmen or Cancun will also give you many options for great times. You can live in luxury at hundreds and hundreds of Yucatan peninsula hotels including Playa del Carmen hotels. If affordability and personalized service are more your style, Tulum Mexico hotels are the way to go. I highly recommend coming down to Tulum. With wide-open spaces, beautiful jungles, amazing beaches, Mayan ruins, tasty restaurants and more, I'm confident you'll learn that Tulum is exactly the vacation you're looking for.
