The Volcanic Mount Meru

From the game parks, craters, hills and beaches. The major attractions in the area are mountains. Mt. Kilimanjaro beckons on the border between the country and Kenya. However it's worth noting that there is another mountain known as Mt. Meru that lies on west of Mount Kilimanjaro. This is a great attraction site in the country.

Tanzania has put a lot of effort to conserve its natural beauty and Mt. Meru stands untouched it has a height of 4,556 meters or 14, 980 ft. The mountain is visible from Mt. Kilimnjaro on a clear day and it's the tenth highest mountain in Africa. It's an active strato volcano and lots of its mightiness was lost around 8,000 years ago due to an eastward volcanic blast. The mountain is still active and just a century ago it had a minor eruption. Small cones and craters are visible on a clear day and reflect the volcanic activities that take place at the mountain.

Tanzania's mountains are usually great habitats for birds and Mt. Meru is no different and its harbors over 400 bird species. Wildlife is also eminent in the mountain like leopards and monkeys. The country's flag flies high in one of mountain's peak. As noted earlier this mountain is natural and has not been interfered with. This is due is to the location and the continued nature of eruptions.
