The next morning I was back there, waiting for the instructor and his motorbike. Maybe this time he will bring food. I have never felt so strong. 'This was meant for me and I know it', the thoughts went around in my mind." "Maybe that is the best place anyone can ever get to on their life's journey," I say to Xaba.

"What do you mean?" he asks.

"That place where no-one can take away the certainty of what you were meant to be." This is spiritual. No-one can take away something that lends purpose to your life. It has already been determined. Like spiritual DNA, it strikes me. "What are you talking about?" says Xaba. "They would have had to break my legs, they could have broken my arms, Xaba, but they could no longer take the purpose of my life away from me. I was walking the path intended for me, making my own tracks. I was the author of my own story and, at the same time, the actor. Not just a puppet or a replica.

I was busy fulfilling my purpose, this was my opportunity and I was fully aware of it." He nods in agreement as I am speaking. He is a very wise man. "How did it make you feel, this experience?" asks Xaba. "It made me feel strong inside. I felt at peace with myself. It was as though I was close to my destiny," I say. "It was no longer us or me, amongst humans. I was near to God. God and me, that is how it felt to me. It made me strong, gave me mountains of energy. The child who would never run. I remember when we began with the selection course - there were many who were fitter and stronger than I was. Real powerhouses, speed junkies. Some of them were no longer there at the end. Things don't just happen without a reason. Nothing in my life was coincidental," I say.
