The Way To Win Big A Job Interview

Job interviews can be very stressful

Job interviews can be very stressful. There is no way to get around it because there is so much at stake. Most job seekers will find themselves more stressed when they think about the fact that you can only make a first impression once. But if you keep these few simple rules in mind, you will be able to ace your job interview.

Arrive On Time

One of the best ways to make a great first impression is to arrive at the interview site on time or even a little early. Nowadays people are very busy, and you are taking a time slot on their appointment calendar. Being late takes time away from getting to meet and impress your potential boss and human resources representative. They may also think that you will make a habit of being late, and you don't appreciate this opportunity.

You can protect yourself if there is a reason that was outside of your control, such as a major traffic jam. Make sure to call who ever it was that set up the initial interview. They may ask you to reschedule for another day or for later that day. Give them the option and make sure that you apologize for the inconvenience.

In the Hot Seat

Upon arriving at the office, treat everyone with respect and be sure to smile. If you are interviewing for a manager position, you might think that the receptionist is your subordinate. That's not right. At some small companies, anyone may fill in at the switchboard, so don't assume anything negative.

A firm handshake can help you when trying to make a good impression. A Fish-tail handshake is the worst thing you can do. If your hand is floppy and you only take hole of the other person's fingers, you have a fish-tail handshake. Don't do it. Grab the whole hand in a firm grip, but not so hard as to break their fingers. It may seem irrelevant since it has nothing to do with any task you will be given at work. But for your evaluation, it is very important. Strong people have strong handshakes.

Make sure to maintain good posture during the interview. It will help make you look as if you were alert and interested. Make sure to make eye contact, but don't make it uncomfortable by staring. You are allowed to look at any information or notes they hand to you. When they are speaking to you or you are answering a question is the best time to make eye contact.

Ask the interviewer a couple questions also. It shows interest and intelligence. Knock the bosses socks off when he asks if you have any questions by asking him how he is impacted by his job. This great question is often forgotten. But every employee, no matter how high their rank in the company, has a boss. It is your job to make that that person's life easier.
