It looks very similar to a leopard, but is larger and heavier. They are threatened but a few may sometimes be seen in the Northern parts of Argentina. Normally spotted, occasionally a black one is seen.In the pampas or savannah you will find the The Pampas Cat or Grass Cat. If you can imagine a cross between a house cat and a leopard, then have a pampas cat. It has leopard like spots, but it also has stripes on some parts of its body. It is small and chunky in build and has a short tail.The Margay is also known as the Long Tailed Spotted Cat. Those of this endangered species to be found in Argentina are usually seen in the far North of the country, in the warm and humid forests. It is unique and like no other cat in the world.Many cats climb trees, some very well indeed. But the Margay is something like a monkey or a squirrel in the branches. It is the only member of the cat family that can climb down a tree head first, and is even able to hang from a branch by one hind foot!So at home is it in trees, it even builds a nest there for its young, where they are born. Each litter usually consists of a single kitten.Like most other smaller cats, they eat small mammals, birds, eggs, small reptiles, with small amounts of green plants.
